We really enjoyed our stay at Swiss House. Our second floor room was clean and comfy with a good bed, complimentary tea, coffee, chocolate and biscuits. The bathroom was compact but spotless and with a good, hot shower and great towels. The breakfast was fantastic, copious and tailored to individual preference. We appreciated being able to park the car on site as Castleton can be challenging in this respect. The manager Matt went out of his way to make sure I could see Aston Villa beat PSG live on the Tap Room screen, even though the bar was not open on that particular night. On other nights, the tap room was lively and friendly but we were not disturbed when in our room. Nothing was too much trouble for the fantastic staff. The location is great, the pubs and shops are all nearby. Mam Tor, the main caverns, and Peveril Castle can be reached on foot without the need for a vehicle, if you are mobile and so-inclined. A genuinely great place to stay.
Nice pint in a small but comfortable pub, just a shame there were TVs in each of the two rooms. Don't get me wrong I love sport but there is a time and place.
Stayed here for two nights with our bikes. All were very accommodating where there was a specific lock up for the bikes. The rooms were clean and in good order. Breakfasts were plentiful, varied and good quality. Will definitely stay again.
Lovely place. The homemade granola at breakfast was fabulous. Clean, modern bathroom. And our room had a great view of Peveril Castle. Martha gave us great tips for walks nearby. Highly recommend. I would love to go back.
Great friendly bar in Castleton, muddy boots and dogs welcome, superb range of real Yorkshire Ales from predominately Barnsley Breweries and they now do food, burgers, wraps and pizza at very competitive prices.
The first time I've called in, I was surprised it bigger than it looked for the outside. Really good interior deco,grate selection of craft beers from Jollyes Brewary. Best prices in Castleton, well worth calling in.
